Alieu Darboe has said that the level of football in the Algeria Ligue One is as high as some leagues in Europe and higher than some other leagues in Europe.
He told Nna Gambia News Online that, the package placed before him was so tempting to turn against even though he had some offers from the Belgium Jupiler Leauge.
The 23-year-old who left Malta for Mouloudia Club D’Oran said he has been enjoying life at his new club saying, “So far, everything has been very professional and the club is big with a very good Squad.
“The level here a very good level probably the best in AFRICA as Setif won the African Champions League.
“I Was at Dinamo Zagreb a big club, but here the level is high as well,” the winger said.
He added that he would have loved to stay in Europe but couldn’t have shown a blind eye to the offer that comes begging.
“When I was leaving Malta I had very good offer to go to Belgian Jupiler League, but the offer I got here was very tempting because not all clubs in Europe can pay that.
“Also the project of the club was very good as well,” he said.
The Mouloudia wide man said he is better team player now than before. He was responding to claim that he only contribute to the team when the team is playing forward. He said: “I have heard that a lot.
“We have a very good coach here in Jean-Michel Cavalli who coached Algeria at national team level and Ajaccio in Ligue 1, France.
“He has put a special program for me to increase my endurance and I am working very hard for the energy to defend but also to attack,
“I think technique wise and offensively, I can play any league in the world, so I am now working on my defensive and hopefully I do my best,” he added
Darboe whose club will be in action on Saturday said he is hopeful of playing his part in the club’s campaign this season knowing that he is pocketing a lot of money from the contract.
He however said he is sure of getting few minutes on Saturday even though he had a knock in their pre-season match against Deportivo.
“Hopefully I can get few minutes on Saturday but if not, we have many games to go with the African Confederations Cup.
“The coach trust me and told me I am an important player for him, so I will do my best to have a good and consistent season,” he said.
The young man also throw his voice on the current Gambian squad and their chances. Alieu said the Gambian fans deserve watching their national team at the African cup of nations because the fans have been waiting for so long while wishing them the best of luck.
Asked whether he has been in contact with anyone from the Gambia Football Federation, Alieu said, “To be honest I am not talking to anyone at the federation. At this moment I am only concentrating on my club at this moment,
“I am very happy here right now.
“I don’t know if they will call or if I will join the team because Gambia are having good players and I wish them the best.
Speaking of Gambia’s chances against Cameroon, Darboe said, “I hope Gambia wins. I think if we play with a lot of creativity upfront we can win,
“I'd like the boys to be brave, hold the ball and play with courage if we do that I think we will win because we have a good defense.
“The players selected should give 110% to put a smile on the supporters face,” he concluded.
