Gamtel coach, Tapha Manneh has said that his side have not lived up to the standard of their opponents the Gambia Armed Forces, saying, the army played better than his side.
He was speaking after his side lost one nil to the Pierre Gomez side on Sunday at the Serekunda East Mini Stadium.
Emil Sambou’s strike three-quarter way into the match ensure the Khaki boys move joint top with Samger and Gambia Ports Authority with Samger and GPA have a better goal difference.
Tapha who guided Gamtel/Gamcel to their first league title last season told the press that the Khaki boys played better. “They played better in both halves, so they deserved the victory.”
The defeat over league champions leaves Pierre Gomez buoyant of the chances of winning at least a trophy this season citing the commitments from his boys.
Libaski as he is fondly called said the secret behind his side’s fine form is the commitment from each member of the squad.
“I can see a lot of commitment, determination, dedication and devotion from each member of the team. They are all giving it their best. This is why I think we can win at least a trophy this season. But the target is the league”
While Tapha believes that the break wasn’t good for his side, Pierre believes the break was a good omen for him because he gave his yplayers only four days off.
