Gambian international, Modou Barrow might find life easy at Blackburn Rovers because 19-year-old Gambian, Modou Cham is there to keep him company.
In 2014 Blackburn Rovers cleared out the deadwood for fresh and young bloods. They brought in young players between the ages of 19-22 to replace the senior players.
Among some of the young bloods they brought in to replace the deadwood, is one Modou Cham said to be a Gambian. Cham will this season play alongside his fellow Gambian brother Modou Barrow who joined Rovers, yesterday, Monday, August 9, 2015 on loan from Swansea.
Another of the most highly rated is Jack O'Connell. He impressed on loan with Rochdale last season with the 20-year-old defenders performances helping them to promotion from League Two into League One, over the next two-years (at least) he'll now be looking to stake a claim to be in Gary Bowyer's first-team.
Modou Cham with Bradley Bauress, Kellen Daly, Darragh Lenihan and John O'Sullivan all signing contracts that will last for one-year with 18-year-old midfielder David Carson officially arriving today after a trial with Rovers last season, he's also signed a one-year contract.
Luke Varney's arrival on a free transfer was of course today also confirmed after his contract with Leeds United expired. I'm not personally that convinced by Varney and not sure if I would've given him a contract, however, I'll bow to Bowyer's judgement and trust this call.
Modou Cham fondly called Mo has been with the club since an early age, making his first appearance for the Under-18s as a 14-year-old. He is an attacker who is comfortable on either flank, on his day he can be a real threat going forward with an eye for goal.
Born 23rd September, 1996, the 19-year-old forward played for Rovers U-23 last season scoring three goals in nine matches.
He is described on the Blackburn Rovers website as an English but with such a name, there is no doubt that he is more Gambian than English and with the Gambia in the hunt for players to bolster their squad in coming years, isn’t he an option for future national team call up.
