Gambia’s sprint darling, Adama Jammeh and other Gambian athletes based in Senegal did not disappoint Jarraf Athletics Club as they put up an impressive record in the just concluded Senegalese Athletics Champions.
Nna Gambia News reported on Thursday that over a dozen Gambian athletes were to compete in the Senegalese championship over the weekend for a Senegalese club, Jarraf.
The championship that was hosted in Saint Louis saw Adama Jammeh sweep through his opponents in the 100 and 200meters clocking 10:43 and 20:87 respectively.
Omar Jammeh also beat his opponents to clinch the premier position in the 800m clocking 1:51:32 and 3rd in 1,500m with 3:58:04.
Gambia’s fastest in the sprints of recent; Gina Bass came won the 100m clocking 12:03 and 2nd position in the 200m while Mariama T Jallow conquered the 5,000meters but came second in the 1,500m
Awa J Jallow made the finals of the 100 and 200meters but could only finish 3rd and 4th respectively. Mariama Manjang on the other hand finished 1st in the100m junior girls clocking 12:57.
Ebrima Jarju who made it to the finals of the 200 and 400meters came 4th and 2nd respectively.
Tijan Kaita came 1st in both 200 and 400m junior boys clocking 21:86 and 4:61 respectively.
Ebrima Camera finished 3rd in the 100m and 200m while Abdoulie Asim finished 2nd in the 200m and 4th in 100m senior boys.
Fatou Sowe finished 2nd in the 100m girls open.
Buba Darboe was ruled out in the long technical issue while Lamin Keita did not finish due to some health issue.
