The scorpions of The Gambia landed safely at the Banjul International Airport in the early hours of Thursday morning and will hold the much anticipated public training at the Independence Stadium in Bakau at 5pm.
The scorpions returned home from Casablanca where they completed a three day training camp ahead of their encounter with the four time African champions, Cameroon in the ongoing 2017, AFCON qualifier.
Both sides have never met senior level and thus have very little knowledge of each other. Despite Cameroon pedigree in African football, Gambia’s one all draw with South Africa in the opening stage of the qualifier sends signal to Volke Finke and his squad.
Coach Rauol Savoy has invited the Real de Banjul wonder kid, Ablie Jallow to replace Ibou Sawaneh who did not show up at the camp.
Ablie helped the Banjul club to finish second behind Gamtel/Gamcel and was the main man in Bonu Johnson’s local based squad that were humbled by Senegal in the double legged tie of the preliminary rounds of the CHAN qualifiers.
Meanwhile, the indomitable lions who were held to a one all draw by the local side of Senegal on Tuesday are due in The Gambia on Friday, the media officer told a local radio.
