Former Real de Banjul winger, now playing for Northern Dynamo in Seychelles, Modou Jallow known in the football cycle as Figo has called on Gambians to rally behind the scorpions when The Gambia takes on Cameroon come Sunday, September 6, 2015.
Figo made such call after celebrating his first goal in the Seychellois Barclay’s first division on Saturday after his side was thrashed 3-1. Modou was on target for his club in the 83rd minute of the game but his goal could only serve as a consolation.
Figo said: “The players know what is at stake already.
“I think they are all ready to be part of the history.
“They all will love to restore the memories of those good old days
“So let the fans rally behind the boys to give them the maximum support.”
He however said that for the players to put up topnotch performance, they will need the backing of the fans. He pointed out that support encourages players to go the extra mile.
“With support the players can realize their hidden potentials.”
Jallow seized the opportunity to commend his fellow players for putting back The Gambia in the football limelight. He said having been in a football hibernation for two years and coming back to collect a point against football power-house like South Africa was vital.
“I am sure with that performance, Cameroon will not be taking us for granted.
“But with support Insha Allah, victory is certain,” he added.
The young man said scoring goals boost his morals.
He added he is working very hard providing his coach with options to play him in different positions.
Despite losing two out of three matches in the league, the Brikama born player is optimistic that his side have the material to win the league at the end of the season.
“Now that I started scoring goals, I just hope I continue to score much as I can to help my team,” FIigo said.
